Patch 1.04 on Steam?

Hi!
I bought RoP on Steam a long time ago. I have seen that RoP is still on version 1.03. But somewhere I've read that an Update gets to Steam as soon as it has reached "official status" ,as for 1.04 it seems so.
When will it be implemented on steam or do I have to do it manually?
Regards Chris

Could one of the developers/tech guys please respond to this? My Steam version is still not at 1.04. I tried implementing it manually, but it didn't seem to work...
I am really not inclined to buy RoP once again just to keep the game updated.
Regards

Go to your game steam library, right click on RoP, and go to properties. Hit the update tab and select "do not automatically update this game". Install patch 1.04 manually into wherever your RoP game is. If you don't turn off auto update, then steam overwrites 1.04 with its 1.03 version.

Hi, I did this but the start screen still says 1.02. Yet the patch installation seemed to go fine (once I figured out where steam tucked the game).

Figured it out. Thanks anyway! If anyone has the same problem: unpack the patch installer into a new folder, then cut and past into your rop folder. The first time I just ran the installer with the the steam rop folder as the target but that didn't work.

But now I'm getting an immediate crash. Will post in tech help.

Uninstall and reinstall, purging completely the old Steam ROP folder. Then reinstall PON and set it to NOT to update automatically. Then shut down Steam and install the patch. When you relaunch Steam it should work ok.

If you install Rop now on Steam you only get version 1.02....
Reason: The Patch is there... its sitting in the Rop Steam folder...
but Steam doesn't automaticel install it.. doubt it helps anyone that steam downloads the Patch_ROP_v1.04a.exe
Steam nexts either to execute it or to download the files that changed.
Someone at Ageod or Steam screwed that up.

I too have the steam version. I did a clean install and updated to 1.04a fine. The game loaded and it had 1.04a at the bottom.
However, when I go to start a new game it gives and error message and crashes.
Any ideas?

I got to work by taking Rise of Prussia out of steam to patch it.
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?27475-Steam-crashIt works fine now.

Hi all. At the risk of sounding a bit thick

I have a Steam version of RoP, which has ceased to update beyond 1.02 as mentioned above.
I understand the principal of copying the file directory elsewhere, and then applying the update found within the Steam folders. Presumably once updated to this separate file location, I should play the game directly from there (ie: no longer via Steam)? Or is there a way, once patched to get the Steam version up and running properly, by diasabling subsequent automatic updates?

I don't think so. The best solution is to regard Steam as simply the place you downloaded the base game from and then use your separate directory for patching and to play the game from

This works fine for me with no file copying and it runs from Steam.

Okay, thanks guys - I've copied the directory and patched that and everything seems to work okay non-Steam. I shall find out for sure tomorrow when I start my new campaign. I guess it doesn't matter so much if it's outside of Steam if the auto-update feature isn't working - that always seems like the main appeal of Steam aside from just having everything in one place (and of course the daunting count of how many hours you've invested lol).

Steam is not needed, a good external hard-drive is sufficient. And then, downloaded once, you no longer need internet to install and patch your games on all the PCs you have everywhere. Sure, just don't buy those pesky DRMed games and you're free with your games.
