Ok how are you feeding the Russians

It's early April, 1758. My army is concentrated in Konigsberg. I've upgraded the depot there to level 4. I've also built a level 2 depot at Ragnit (two spaces away), which tracks three regions to Memel. Memel then pulls from the off map Kurland box. I would have built a depot at Wierzbolow too but it won't change control, and I was reading another thread on here that said supply wasn't accumulating on depot's in polish territory.

My men are starving. I've built extra supply wagons and sent them in, but that only gives them a extra turn of survival. Now all supplies are gone, and units are starting to disappear.

Hopefully this is user error and not having anything to do with the game itself. Any advice would be appreciated.

How much supply is Memel pulling? I haven't yet seen any Russian depot gain more than a few points each turn - which of course is completely insufficient.

The way I feed the Russians is by keeping them in Russia - at least until a future patch fixes this glitch.

I loaded the 1758 scenario just to see how the Russian setup, and their troops are scattered about East Prussia, which is what you probably have to do to keep them fed.

Unfortunately in the grand campaign most of the area to the south of Konigberg is off limits, so I don't know how you can approximate the historical Russian deployment since you can't even move there.

Yep - it's the biggest broken part of the game right now. The Phils are aware of the problem and have said they're working on it, so it's a matter of waiting for 1.03 I suppose.

My guess: none of the AGE-based games have had to deal with this contingency before. The engine has a provision for off-limits territory, but clearly Poland wasn't off-limits. On the other hand, it's hardly realistic to have Poland Russian-controlled. So I suspect someone is trying to work out how to modify the engine so that a third kind of control is possible, allowing non-controlling supply to cross.

In the meantime, I'm looking at my PBEM game as a sort of beta-test - until the Russian supply problem is fixed, it isn't really the 7YW yet.

We can have some events scripted that will increase Memel (and later Koenigsberg) supply production when it is captured by the Russian...this can be done easily until we find why supply does not flow through neutral Poland ;)

I'll work out some fix and post it here fro trial tomorrow

Merci beaucoup,
I hope that we won't have to start a new game to have that fix working (i.d. that we could keep a current PBEM).

The fix will be event-based, upon capture of the cities...so if they have already fallen, it will not work (may be, may be not ;) )

The rules say you have to have at least 25% military control to have supply flow through the region. Maybe that is the problem.

Hi Phillipes,

I was continuing my research into this and i think you made a mistake.

Both Delbruck and the Sandhurst archives state that the Russian's forward supply depots were Torun and Poznan.

Maybe what we need is to open up Poland in April 1757 or when Konigsberg falls or something like that. Of course then we would need to work on the victory point imbalance that this would create.
I am working on opening Poland in 1757 and giving Freddy some free VPs every turn.

Mike

any progress?

have y'all figured out how to move supply through poland yet? it really kind of screws up the eastern game, imho....

We are currently investigating the various points involved in that matter...the key issue is how is handled the travelling of supply through "links" between map and off-map boxes... we're on it :)

thanx!

The next beta patch (this week) will have a solution to the problem. Sorry for the delay.
