pressing ALT and left clicking on the force tab enables you to change its name.

This seems to work with every kind of force except armies.

Yes indeed - very satisfying to obsessive-compulsive neurotics like me, who insist on changing all the garrisons to "X-City Grsn".

And a right-click on the tab will lock the force, which is handy to prevent accidentally merging corps after you've spent an entire hour carefully re-organizing for maximum command efficiency!
