Is there a list of leaders already finished? Can it be posted?

Which leaders will have a portrait and which ones will not?

Can we see an example of a portrait?

I think there will be enough portraits for the most famous generals of that list in diverse archives but some of the less known will be difficult to get.
But I think in the old prussian and austrian Kriegsarchives there must be enough pictures existing. The old austrian war archiv will be easily accessed by the net but I do not know where the old prussian one is located.
So you have first to question our german Bundesarchiv how to get such pictures. The Austrian one can be accessed via net very easily.

It is true that there are a lot of pictures available here, but of very low resolution, I know this from NCP times, you have to pay to get decent portraits

thats all I found sofar, but they are mostly in german language, so it will be a problem for foreign language speakers to understand the information.

General Nádasdy wears the typical Hungarian Hussar uniform jacket, so he was a leader of light cavalry in that time.

Why "Friedreich" and "Maurice". Shouldn't one of these guys be "Frederick", or the other be "Moritz"?

Reread the list there is a Moritz , Hok wrote them rapidly and there is some typo like Soltikov instead of Saltikov. No trouble here.

Dang you're right. I know who Moritz is, but who is this Maurice character? English general?

Colonel Franz Moritz was send with a relief column toward Schandau (Saxony in 1756).
Maurice is the son of Anhalt-Dessau but is sometimes written as Moritz too .

The first was Austrian send by Brown, the second is Prussian.

So my original question stands. Why is it Friedreich and Heinrich (the King and prince) and then Maurice Von Ahalt Dessau, rather than Moritz von Anhlat Dessau.

Sure Moritz os often called Maurice in English language accounts (and presumably in French too), but then Friedreich is usually called Frederick in English language accounts, and Heinrich Henry.

It was family tradition at its best...Most of these socalled "Junkers" aka Knights served the Prussian King and later the German Empire as military and civil officers, because they regarded that as their duty to king and fatherland.
It was the best prussian tradition...

Frederich's heroic heavy cav commander Seydlitz had decendent that was taken prisoner at Stalingrad.

As said by Hohenlohe, you will find them in every war from 1700-1945.
In many cases entire families (the men) were decimated.

It must be that many of these officers won their "von" during these 18th century wars.

I wonder if the elder Manstein and Manteuffels were as bright and displayed as much verve as their descendents.

Not unusual, I think. During my military service (1995/6) one of my platoon leaders was a certain Kesselring while the division commander was a certain Falkenhayn.
