Is there no place I can go to or look at to see what the difference or special uses of various units? I haven't a clue what the difference is between a labor regiment, pioneer regiment, or engineer regiment to name a few. The manual doesn't seem to be any help here and there don't appear to be any tool tips on these kinds of units. Some things are obvious, like steam vs. sail ships, various levels of units (corps, divisions, brigades), etc...but some not so. Any one know?

your best option is to open the detailed unit screen. That'll tell you a lot about how well they perform in combat.

Also the special traits of many units, place your mouse over that and it'll tell you a lot, eg the difference between the various types of engineering units (often best to have them all in army stack if you can - they do do different things)
