This is not just a matter of the game function, because sometimes when it hasn't updated, if you close the balance screen and do something else, when you open it again the action you took is now reflected in the total needs/surplus section.
It's all moot, of course, because your buy orders might not get filled, but I would think that section ought to be a little more (potentially) accurate.
The Steam version (1.042) seems a little better at updating the balance screen, but the problem is still there.
