So even though it is a given that corps involve more men, how do they differ in comparison to divisions and brigades if you keep a large stack of these smaller units.

Does having a large stack of these little guys hurt you, because they are so segmented compared to the larger forces?

the key bit is target selection.

The first phase is that the various stacks (ie the tabs you move around the map) select their opponent. Once two stacks are in combat, then the component elements select a target. Ignoring the detail there are two key rules. First the largest unit (in terms of combat power) is most likely to be targetted first - so if you have say 2 divisions and 1 corp in your stack then its likely the corps will be selected as the first target. However, while this will tend to mean the larger units do target each other, its not guarenteed. The result is there is a risk that a division (or even a brigade) will come up against a corps.

If you have more units in the stack than your opponent, they will start to double up on targets - so subject to the frontage rules you'll get most of them into combat but you are running a risk.

In terms of composition, most corps are the simple equivalent of 2 divisions (so you simply have double the combat power of a division) plus a HQ element. If I recall, that provides some advantages but I'm no longer sure.
