Problems (?) with Italy 1880's

Sun May 03, 2015 10:20 am

Hi,

Started a campaign with Italy in the 1880 campaign (all DLC's and 1.04 RC5 installed), turn 21 (early nov. 1880) now.

The capital city is still Torino instead of Rome, is this normal or bug, or any option to relocate my capital?

And the government type is full autocracy, i made some voting reform (census etc .i don't know the exact name of them) but
still not transferred to constitutional monarchy? Is it also normal?

First is wrong, sounds like an issue with the scenario set up files as it was Rome from 1870. Run an event like this to sort it out;

SelectFaction = $ITA
SelectRegion = $Lazzio
StartEvent = evt_nam_ITA_make_Rome_captial|1|2|NULL|Null|$Toscana|NULL

Actions
SelectRegion = $Lazzio
SetCapital = $Lazzio

EndEvent

Should sort it out for you.

Second is by design. You can't change state/govt type in PoN by your own actions (some states are changed by event in game). For Italy this is correct, it emerged from the Risorgimento as an authoritarian state and remained that way for the period of the game. If anything, from the late 1880s onwards it become more authoritarian as it faced increasing domestic unrest

simplest is to add it to the end of the 1880 Italy events file, let it run and then delete it

I pasted it into the "ITA 1880 events" file, onto the very end, and exactly copy and paste from here.

there maybe a typo in the longer code line, the province should be $Toscana (ie no space in the word). If that doesn't work have a look at the turn log and it will say which line of the event is not working (but I suspect its as simple as that typo)

One more thing, i saw the SOI areas, but all of them is with a minus, there is no positive areas on the colonization map (and the same for Germany too).

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but in case anyone is still having this issue, I think I have it fixed. The key seems to be the mysterious ";10" entry in the line "SetCapital = $Lazzio;10" in the event posted below. I found this out by needing to do something similar to move Japan's capital to Tokyo.

To change Italy's capital after the first turn (it will still be Turino on the very first turn, it will switch to Roma after the first turn is resolved), put this event at the top of ITA 1800 Events.sct:

SelectFaction = $ITA
SelectRegion = $Lazzio

StartEvent = evt_nam_ITA_MoveCapital|1|2|NULL|NULL|NULL|NULL

Conditions

MinDate = 1880/01/01

Actions

SelectRegion = $Lazzio
SetCapital = $Lazzio;10

EndEvent
