From Colony to State

As the US I have been developing the Mid-West to the point where they have upgraded from protectorates to colonies. How do I get them to state status? Do I keep developing them manually or is it just a matter of time until they make the jump to states?

Somebody else posted that when all the regions in that state area are 100% CP, they will convert to state. I think I read that.

My understanding is that statehood comes through events. Look at the USA events file. About the time of historical statehood, the program checks to see that the place is a colony and that you control it and then it fires, converting the colonial regions into national regions, giving you de jure status, raising loyalty, maybe bringing in some immigrants.

Yep, it happens via events if you have them in colony status. So, if you want to make Kansas national soil, get it to Colony status then wait until the event fires in 1862-1864 timeframe.
