I started with this scenario...and it's a nightmare... I lost every single battle and i don't know why... i played France and Austria and the result is the same.

Even when i give the ordre to draw back if engaged, my armies are destroyed...

[And there's no commandement problem]

Have you checked supply levels etc? The battle reports are quite detailed after all and if you really study them you will know exactly why you lose battles.

Even USMC will lose if you send them in with no bullets, only Finnish soldiers manage with toothpicks ;) .

I took a quick look and the forces are quite evenly matched I would say, maybe more planning is required?

Here's the thing. I've played as the Austrians and while defending got my ass handed to my by the joint Franco-Italian forces. When I tried the other side, the entire Italian force except for a single corps got destroyed while attacking the defending Austrians. Why, how, I do not know. What I do know that I tried out the same attack 4 or 5 times, with always the same result. The Italians get obliterated, while the French survive. It's like they aren't even fighting together.

Hi.
Just started this scenario as it is a short one and it sems to me the key is to reorganise whatever forces you have given the generals you have . I notice as Austria that there is a specialist Cavalry general and also a fortress defending specialist. I will be using him in Milan which I have to hold onto.

My problem is that the main C in C for the Austrians looks like he does not know the meaning of initiative and neither does the other likely Field commander........... My instinct is to try to engage the enemy in the North Italian plains West of Milan.......we will see........!

Got a victory against Austrian AI. Go to Venezia, while letting a force entrenched in Torino. let the AI move his stack, certainly to Torino. It will have lost entrenchment bonus. strike back from Venezia when sieging Torino.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that the Italians and French weren't fighting together. See if you can find a "synchronize" command button. I used to get hurt badly in AACW when one corps would show up a day or two before the rest of my army and get totally wiped out.
