Limit Map loading

Seems to have done wonders about the jerky scrolling but what are the downsides with turning this off?

Someone else can probably give better info, but it probably just takes much longer to load initially.

Just to confirm that turning OFF this option "Limit Map Loading", does wonders to map scrolling in my desktop. Not that it was very bad, but with this OFF, it's a breeze. 
My specs:
- Windows XP SP2
- CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
- 4 Gig RAM
- ATI HD 5750 1 Gig VRAM graphics card (10.5 ATI drivers; updated directx 9.0c)
- Screen size 1920x1080
