Animated sequence of Vaingloriusness

This animated sequence from the 1968 film, The Crimean War, captures the essence of the Vainglory of Nations of that era. Vainglory of Nations is the perfect title for the game.

J'espère au moins que les chicaneries des marchands de tapis ne vous distraient pas trop de la réalisation du jeu de l'année !

I remember someone here saying that we will get more news after the game conference. The Russian Civil War is already great news, but I personally wish to know more about VGN. wink, wink, nudge, nudge

Would be an excellent acronym for the marketing department  If *that* doesn't sell, then what does?

I liked Vainglory it had a flair to it, hopefully they can get it back into the title. But it could have been worse - they might have decided to call it Vicky 2.5.

Poor decision, I think. "Pride of Nations" is an entirely anodyne title. "Proud Tower" is a better bet... and probably long out of copyright.

That said, I'll take 'Pride of Nations' in exchange for the very interesting decision for "Revolution Under Siege:" a neat period that will give the marketing folks fits.

Exactly what I think - PoN os a rubbish name, Vain Glory Of Nations was a brilliant name and was what made me look at the game in the first instance. Revolution under Siege is a great name as well. You need names like that to stand out amongst the millions of strategy games that come out these days. 'Pride of Nations' says nothing to me.

Pride of Nations is much better. The "Vainglory of Nations" business always made me cringe - it was painfully obvious that whomever came up with that, could not have been fluent in English. Granted, it's a bit bland, but this is a difficult period to name. Though Victoria had the subtitle "An Empire Under the Sun," which is quite appropriate, but cumbersome.
