New serie of screenshots

Mon Oct 19, 2009 5:44 pm

Taken straight from the 1914 campaign. Please bear in mind that many things are being worked upon. Still, you should see that even if many content of VGN does not relate to warfare (you know we are covering Commerce, Colonization, Politic, Diplomacy and many others things, do you?), you should see we are not 'watering down' the strong military component of all AGE games.

Really nice series of pictures, I can not wait for this game to be out so I can play it. Keep up the good work AGEOD.
Quote General Lee Gettysburg movie,
"Do you see, General, there is the great trap, to be a good soldier you must love the army, to be a good commander you must be ready to order the death of the thing you love. We don't fear our death. But if this war goes on and on and the men die and the price gets ever high. We are prepared to lose some of us, but we are never prepared to lose all of us. We are adrift here in a sea of blood and I want it to end. I want this to be the final battle".

Nice gameplay detail but the map is looking very dated graphically.Maybe it is time for 3D like Paradox when you look at the recent nice efforts with Rome,Hoi3.

Regarding maps, i would not take Paradox as ideal.

This game looks fantastic! It did not occur to me that we would be able to fight WWI, from what I see so far this will add a whole new dimension to the game.

Very impressive indeed. Thank you for the hard work.

I really do like the mountains. Maybe Plains could take a little more ... variety.

Interesting hints for gameplay.

Spelling could improve (or is the space limited?):

Saarbrücken instead of Saarbrück

leichter Kreuzer instead of leicht Kreuzer

schwere Küsten-Artillerie instead of schwere Küste ...

Map errata: In the "Awaiting Wilson" screenshot, the city labeled "Huntington" should be "Charleston" -- the capital of WV. The city of Huntington is actually on the Ohio R. to the west, while Charleston is in the center of the state where Huntington is shown. :)

Indeed.

Oh how I wish the Vainglory map looked more like the excellent BoA and Civil War maps.

Two things. Located in the photo Nach Paris, whats the image of the Effiel Tower mean? I notice that not all citys have this. Brussels has one but i can't tell what it is. The other point is about map. Remember that its an Alpha screenshot and hopefully things will become more pronounced as completion nears. The map in this game should be a big selling point and i do recall somewhere that it is in 3D or maybe thats my wishful thinking. Hey how about and explorer unit icon photo, please

Hi! :)
That is not a city. Just the region map name and the flag of the region's owner (USA).
Cites are the "big round things" :D
I guess neither Charleston WV or Huntington are big or important enough to appear on map as an individual structure. Be aware that this is a global game map so only the most important locations appear in them as "cities".
In this regard, the scale i very different that in AACW, which has smaller scale regions and lots on minor cities on map.
Cheers!

Here I go

- The lights on the top left and botton right should be turned off due to climate change :D

- The yellow of the Austria-Hungary flag should not be so yellow

- Missing graphic in the cavalry corps.

- No wait, the river bug is russian, so it should be Буг ;)

And which is the correct one?

The information in this site is a bit confusing

http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ah.html

VGN supports changing the flag with the advancing years? IIRC this was a problem with NCP

Difficult to decide...I proposed to use the Merchant Ensign as it is IMHO most prepresentative of the Dual Monarchy.

VGN should support flag change, although this part is not yet coded ;)

Oh I do love the icons on top - they are very crisp and clear. No guesswork like in Paradox's games (though I do love their games too). And no need to rush to 3d If your asking me ;)

Thought the flag was one of the bug to find.

Btw, nice feature changing flags. Can't wait for a France with the White-Fleur de Lys flag! :D

One thing is sure, I never liked this bland black-yellow flag, so if the merchant ensign has some legitimation, it is much more beautiful :)

Dooya, stop messing around with your "bugs"! :neener: :D
Guys, he is only making a (slightly bad ;) ) joke with the river "Bug" you can see in the middle of the screen :D
That, of he spotted that Austrian leader without mustache or beard
Outrageously unhistorical!!
(wait, now that i look closer he may have at least a tiny mustache... :bonk: :D )
Cheers!

Don't worry, after the Dual Monarchy... the flag should change... :siffle:

OK, I'm hooked

I'll buy.

What put me over the edge, the little light houses on the coastal cities with the twin beams showing! Living on the coast of Maine, what can I say...since I live within sight of this one.

Thanks arsan. I thought about that possibility after I posted, and am glad you clarified it for me. In that regard, the map looks fine.
