Up in fire power of BEF and other britsh units

Fri May 21, 2010 8:38 am

I been looking at the game have take note that the firepower of BEF and other british units are every think from garrisons to front line corps and have the same as the germans to french when it comes to firepower but in 1914 a british squad could put more rounds down range the other two put together so are the any plans in the works upping the firepower for the british and empire units .

I think ultimately this is a balance question. The British units are usually pretty good, the BEF is downright excellent in combat values, so I am not sure that a firepower increase should be done.

Well, in fact it is there already. In 1914, the British corps of the BEf are rated 8-9-4, whereas the best French and German are 6-7-4 (and only one 7-8-4 for the ultra elite)... so British firepower and excellent marksmanship is already represented in the game.

The +0 to +3 value termed firepower bonus you see on some units (in the yellow circle) is in fact representing the corps' intrinsic Artillery firepower...and in that matter the British were on par (or even lower) than the French or Germans.

By 1915, the 'quality' of the professional BEF had vanished (due to losses plus the fact that the experienced NCOs were versed into new corps as cadre), so the top-quality 8-9-4 corps are removed and replaced by 'standard' 6-7-4

Ok... That is why I've never seen any of those hyper units (UK never joined me - as France of course - before 1915 actually).

Surely if the British don't join until 1915 then you should still get the hyper units as the British wouldn't have suffered any casualties?

You should always get those units when Britian joins the war no matter what year they come in.
