Hard Code Reinforcements?

Tue Dec 16, 2008 6:42 am

I'm playing the full campaign as the CP (for my AAR). The June turn has just begun. An attack on Verdun was planned for this turn-but not anymore. Verdun had been completely surrounded for since March/April. Now, it looks like there are 1/2 million men in it.

It looks like reinforcements are hard coded for that location-either by time, or threat. The AI should not have been able to move into there without a battle occuring. Although there is now a vacant province, it is still marked as under German control. That province was ocupied until the May movement.

I am wondering; is this WAD?

If it is, then I need some info before I can proceed.
1. Will those surrounded French units be supplied? The fortress is still intac.
2. If they are considered supplied, then will/can Verdun become a supply base as those surrounded units begin a conquest of Germany?

The attached file shows the whole Western Front in the political mode. Verdun is right in the middle of it with a stack of corps reaching for the moon  .
I'm using the 105 beta patch.

As I wrote in other threads, what you see is probably a huge set of decoys. I'm struggling to find some time to work on this stuff, in order to make the usage of decoys by AI more reasonable and less "stupid"... ;)

But, as you know, I'm alone (the *1* resource), and the time is short! :D

Thanks for the quick reply.

I caught something about the decoy's but I have been busy playing this thing recently (and still leaning it). Got an AAR going at

At any rate, I am very relieved to hear that those are decoy's. It appeared that I had been shafted royal there for a while.

Now, on to Paris.

BTW, don't forget your breakfast. :)

Edit: Fixed link :bonk:

Not sure whether these are decoys, maybe the AI decided to put most/all its HQs there. Sometimes the AI seems to have such a tendency in the Redeployment phase (which would fit with June).
You can click on the region and check at the bottom left screen how many/which HQs are placed there.

Well, I'm going to add a AI improvement whose purpose is to avoid massed redeployments of multi-armies inside the same area!

You will find it with the official 1.05C on friday!

Herewith the incoming improvements for AI (1.05C):

- Military AI has been improved in order to avoid massive redeployment of multi-army forces inside the same area
- Military AI has been improved in order to ignore any redeployment possibilities that would make the Front ungarrisoned

:D
