Almost there but still having CTDs and AI lock ups

Hey Calvinus,

I am having a good game going but I cannot proceed because the game freezes and the AI doens't do anything during a siege so I have to ALT + CTRL out of the game to quit it.

I have attached a savegame. :coeurs:

Looking the bug. It seems that a decoy stack was able to generate the siege of Prezmysl, right? Then, being a decoy, the AI is not able to do anything and is stuck... I'm fixing this double bug (#1: AI stuck when besieging with no forces and #2: siege generated by a decoy).

In the meanwhile, waiting the official 1.05B for next monday, you can fix the savegame by removing the Fortress of Prezmysl... but make a backup copy for when the patch will be released. ;)

I attached the zip with the "fixed" savegame (no Prezmysl fortress, no garrison).

Tell me if it works with no problems.

Thanks,
Calvinus.

I tried a second time your savegame in order to check the fix just done, but the AI did not send any decoy in Prezmysl and I had no hang. I will try again, but this is a tip for you... ;)

Anyway I fixed the two bugs:
1) sieges now cannot be generated by empty detachments (decoys)
2) an automatic retreat is now triggered if the besieging forces are void

Thanks,
Calvinus.

:D As always you are the man Cal.

Okay, so can I use your fixed savegame or should I wait?

On top of that Im having another little thing I'd like to share.

Basically it's about combat when you have an advantage in numbers lets say 4:1 and the battle takes place. You win the round but ultimately lose the battle because you didn't manage to disorganize or knock the enemy corps out of combat. You merely managed a "shaken" status and therefore lose.

Why not implement a rule that when you only have one corps left and no reserves left to send into the battle, no matter what you get (disorganized, out of combat or shaken) that unit has to retreat because he cannot effectively mount a defense anymore while you as the attacker technically still got power to trade a few punches. This could definitely be classified as overrun.

So...just a suggestion

Also I just recalled in that current savegame, after the last interphase I noticed that basically most of the units of the AI had disappeared from the enbattled fronts. What I'm saying is that the path was clear for me to just steamroll towards key objectives without much opposition...since well they vanished :mdr:

Now I don't know if the AI has redeployed them elsewhere or lost them due to mutinies (Russia especially) but I wouldn't see him lose a majority of his armies. This was less so on the French side but nonetheless the French AI also pulled back vital units from a front leaving me wide open to come and grab his key objectives. It could have been due to the fact that I am advancing with Italy from the south so..

But I don't know, it just seems real strange to redeploy at that moment.

WAD?

Okay had another lock up while waiting for a naval battle.

Savegame is included. It is the continuation of the game I was playing that you kindly fixed for me.

I don't have a saved game, but I have had two AI lockups during the enemy turn while playing the GC in Army-by-Army mode. The AI is conducting its turn, but inexplicably stops and nothing more can take place. I will save the game next time it happens.

No redeploy. Most of them were probably decoys, as I wrote about the siege of Prezmysl that caused an AI hang.

Tried, no hang, no problem...
I had only one naval battle in Gulf of Memel against Russian naval forces... no problem at all.

Savegame for testing is welcome, thanks.
