Bigger blackboard (message log)?

Sun Nov 23, 2008 9:46 pm

In the September 1914 events phase I had a number of politics decisions that popped up but never appeared in the "blackboard" message log; I am afraid they dropped off. That also means I have no idea if there has been any other important or at least interesting information lost.

The game log can be expanded to see more stuff...also, if you click on the Messages button, you can access to the list of all past game messages...

You mean the blackboard button on the right, that makes the message log come up? It only let me scroll back so far ...

The message log in the ledger seems to have a "better memory", but while I can see every country's messages there, it appears to be lacking the message for the Allies (National Will changes due to battles, for example).

By the way: I assume the log isn't saved when I save the game, because it would blow up the file size too much?

You can customize the display mode of every single message type, choosing where to display it: if only on the Game Log or also on the Message Windows. Go to the Options window and click the "Customize Messages" button.

Yes, it's so. In addition, the Game Log may contain max 50 event notifications (the exceeding old ones are removed), and the Messages Panel max 100.

Thanks for clearing that up! :)

Guess I will add more pop up windows to make sure I don't miss anything - good solution for me. :)

Yes, but probably too many pop-ups could be overwhelming and annoying. :neener:

Remember also that some messages concerning your enemy can be not visible to you... War secrets! ;)

Well, I'll live with that. It's easier to handle in a turn based game as opposed to a real time game, like Hearts of Iron or Europa Universalis. I prefer too much info over too little. :)

Well, I shall hope so. Major factor of every conflict should be uncertainty and fog of war. :sherlock:

Do you know that Fog of War can be customized in Options window??? You have a wide set of options, both for human players and for AI... ;)

BTW, it'll be cool to have the message log saved with savegames - now when you load a save you lose all the messages...
