1.0.5d Isolation Bug

Thu Jan 08, 2009 5:30 pm

Unless there's something I'm not aware of or have a misunderstanding about, there seems to be a fairly major isolation bug.

Using the Schlieffen Plan, I played the right of passage event against Belgium. I checked Belgium's diplomacy and right of passage was given to the CP. Also, the right of passage card said that supply would be traced through Belgium for 6 turns.

I moved the 1st army past Liege and into Belgium. I move the 3rd army to the north (left on the map) of Luxembourg, next to the locked 4th army in Luxumbourg.

The next turn both the 1st and 3rd army came up isolated. It seems that the game is not taking into account right of passage when determining isolation, since Beligum and Luxembourg were the "owner's" of the regions surrounding the 1st and 3rd.

I should add one more thing about the 3rd army...French reacted to the 3rd army movement and after battles between French and German 3rd and 2nd armies, the 3rd ended up next to the 4th army and Luxembourg...the French owned regions to the left and above the 3rd. The 3rd should have been in supply and not isolated because it was next to the 4th and Luxembourg. The 1st should have been isolated at all, unless I have something wrong.

If you post a zipped savegame, it can be very helpful... ;)

Thanks,

Yikes...I may have exited without saving when I saw the isolated armies...but if I'm right about this, I should be able to recreate and send a zipped file.

I'm glad you asked me to do this....I double checked....the game is saved at military phase, pre-turn, after right of passage was played...Belgium is showing at war, diplomatic level of 5, but neutral to CP and Entente and right of passage is NOT set...so that explains the 1st army isolation...I checked Luxembourg and, sure enough, at war without right of passage...so that explains the 3rd army isolation.

So this raises a couple of issues....is there a bug with the right of passage event card? Should the card be disabled if germany declares war against belgium or is the card not correctly setting belgium's status? The second issue is that the scenario starts with the 4th on Luxembourg, but without control of the region or right of passage set and no ability during pre-turn to do anything about it. Perhaps that's by design?

If you would still like a zipped save file, I'll be happy to send one to you.

You are right. The problem is that event works for Belgium, Bulgaria or Rumania! :bonk:
So if I add a check on neutrality for one nation, you practically cannot play the event on others, even if actually possible...

This is a known scenario setup error.
