Transfering corps?

Thu Dec 11, 2008 11:48 pm

It's entirely possible I'm not doing this right, but when I try to transfer a corps, I click on the corps itself on the bottom of the screen and drag it to where the unit actually resides on the map. The cursor turns into a fist. But when I release the cursor, nothing happens. Similarly, when I try to consolidate units in the same area, I click in the little green box under the unit and (the cursor turns into a fist again) and place the cursor over the main unit. Sometimes it asks me if I want to place the unit in a corps or not but sometimes it doesn't. Hope this makes sense and am I doing it right or is there (or could there be) a better way to do it?

Creating detachments and changing unit assignments takes some practice, but both functions do work. It is easier in some land areas than others. For creating a detachment, you have the right idea: you have to select the unit in the bar at the bottom of the screen and drag it onto the map in the area where the army / army detachment is located. However, you have to release it in just the right spot. Try putting the fist right at the bottom of the army marker. If that doesn't work, try dragging the fist onto the "star" that has the Army# in it. So far, it seems that with successive patches creating detachments has gotten easier. Still, I think a button is probably needed in a future patch.

I agree, that process is simply painful. Merging is even worse as you have to align the units as opposed to simply click on a button. The merge window is also much too small.
