Nitpicks?

Tue Dec 02, 2008 2:56 pm

Events: the green notifications at the bottom of the screen always say Central Powers (I'm playing as the CP)....even when the event is obviously an Entente Event, i.e., British V Army activated. Is this correct?

Mouse: I'd love to see some kind of notification that the computer is working so I know when my mouse is stuck and when it's stuck for a reason. Sometimes it just freezes for long periods of time.....I don't know if it's processing or frozen for good. Both happen.

Von Spee: is there any way to get this squadron to the Atlantic? the Panama Canal? the Indian Ocean? Africa? or is he doomed to sail the Pacific forever?

Charge: really really a nitty nit pick, but the sound of that old geezer, possibly a veteran of the American Civil War, yelling "charge" before every battle can safely be done away with.....unless you can tell me how to send him to his just reward by deleting his tired old *ss.

Thats all I can think of for patch 2.9 right now.

It means the notification goes to the CP, even if it concerns the enemy. :)

Indeed it's processing. But you are right. I'm going to activate the clock-like cursor... ;)

Really??? I moved it to the Atlantic a lot of times... It's my favorite strategy: merging the Pacific fleet with the Atlatic one! :D

In fact now (1.04f) I show the clock cursor exacly an instant before the AI starts her job (the first period is always a lag because the AI does the most complicate setup work).

Actually my first move with Spee is to hit Canada! Not kidding, there's a light cruiser squadron there that takes time to be reinforced, and therefore is easy meat for the AC. After two or three turns in the battle its normally reinforced by the Home fleet.

Another use of Spee squadron is to send it near Madagascar to intercept a troop convoy.

If you send Spee in the Atlantic, make sure that you take the reinforcing tactic since the French squadron there (a bunch of AC) can easily be reinforced either by the Home Fleet or the French Fleet. The plus side is that normally you get reinforced as well. See if you feel like taking on the Home fleet at that stage...

Avoid like the plague Australia with its BC (they outrun and outgun you) and Singapore (you get the Home Fleet coming to you for some reason).

Hopefully in the future the Japanese forces are freed to roam the Pacific. Then we can really have to make the hard decisions that the real Spee had to take... :)

Thanks Calvinus. :) Hehe Spee is really a pet project of mine. I just love putting him in all the wierdest places on the planet. :mdr:

One day I'll just try to send him to Germany and maybe appoint him to a larger fleet. He's got good stats if I remember well not like Ingehol :cuit:

And now to find a way of taking out the Russian fleet in the Baltic... :neener:

Mission impossble...
