Does this game work for Windows 8 (64-bit)?

Hi,

I had been eyeballing WW1: La Grande Guerre Gold for some time now, and had nearly decided to purchase it. However, I'm currently running a Windows 8 64-bit system, and I now understand there were numerous issues in getting the game to run even under Windows 7.

Will it be possible to get this game to run satisfactorily on my new PC, or should I just give this one a pass?

I'm still using WinXP but I might suggest downloading and trying the WW1G demo from here:

If the demo runs you should be good to go for the full version.

Good Luck.

Works for me on Windows 8 with 64-bit without any needed changes.
Windows 8 does allow you to emulate earlier versions of Windows, which I use for some games. But, this was not needed for WW1. However, I did have issues with the demo. Once I used the full version it worked grandly. Just make sure you update to the latest patch.

I am totally enjoying play on Windows 8. If it looks interesting, which it should, go for it. If you find some tech issues, which I doubt, a fix will be very easy.
