Demo 1.08F - Debug error

Tue Jun 08, 2010 8:42 pm

Hello,

With a patched demo ,when starting i get the message:-

Debug error

Run time check failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call..........

Pressing "ignore" the game seems to start normally, "Retry" and the game crashes.

This does not occur with the unpatched demo.

It seems a installation problem, PC administrator priveldges missing or corrupted files.

Decided to try out the demo (been waiting till it appears you have finnaly got a pretty stable game ;) ) ...

downloaded the gold demo and the latest demo patch 1.08i official.

Tried to start and got the same error listed above. This is with windows xp, as an admin user.

Unistalled the game and tried again with same result, some debugg error.

So how do you get the demo working?

Have you tried the official patch 1.08I for demo version?

Also, try to turn off or disable the antivirus.

I can confirm the same problem with the PATCHED version of the demo, using Windows 7 x64 as an administrator.

Unpatched version works as expected. Installing the demo 1.0.8i causes the problem.

Hit IGNORE, and no further errors seem to occur. Hit RETRY, and the program completely crashes.

I tried UAC off/UAC on, tried Windows XP compatibility mode... same result.

I attached a PNG file with the error message.

Running:
AMD Phenom II 955
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Nothing overclocked.

Since once the user hits IGNORE, nothing else seems to happen, it's not a major issue, but it appears that demo patch does something some users' systems don't like, and I just wanted to add my input.

Thanks!

I'm going to build a new full demo installer for latest official version 1.08I. This should fix the problem on the PCs like yours...

Sounds good!

As I said, once you hit IGNORE, everything seems to run normally as far as I can tell.

On the other hand, I suppose it doesn't look good to potential customers if they get a ugly old error message box first thing when they try to run the demo. :)

Sorry, I had no time to work out a new set of full installers.
As soon next patch 1.08L will be ready, I will send to Philippe a new set of full installers, demo included.
