Cannot install from disk on VISTA

Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:44 pm

I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop and cannot install the game.

The disk just sits in the drive spinning, stopping, spinning, stopping.

I've tried the disk in my PC and it fires up fine. I've also tried another disk in my Vista laptop and that's fine...but I cannot get the game installed from the disk on my Vista laptop.

It actually eventually comes up with Burn disk and Prepare Blank disk.

Any ideas?

Don't know why it wouldn't install.

I've got round it by putting the disk into my PC and sharing the DVD drive from my PC and installing remotely.

Still like to know why it wouldn't work.

Tried several other disks and they've all ran fine.

What I had to do to install it in my Vista desktop:

1.- Start Task Manager and select 'Processes' Tab
2.- Start Setup.exe in WW1 disk.
3.- Wait ... wait ... wait ..
4.- Search for 2 Setup processes (it is WW1 attempting to startup) ... At some moment them stop and its CPU is 0.
5.- Search for a Consent with no description. Rigth click on its name and select option in pop-up menu.
6.- Search again for Consent, now it had a description (something like 'IU....')
7.- Clicking it broutghs a screen asking for persmission to execute. I gave it.

Et voilà installations starts !!!

Do not ask me why this worked, 20 years making software do not allows me to understand it yet. :(

i had a heck of a time installing it from disk too. and i have xp.

auto play wouldnt work so i started it by double clicking it.

next thing i know something like 5 of the same installer start up. i thought i might of screwed up somehow so i tried again. no matter what i did i could get the installer to run just by itself. it insisted on running 4 more copies of itself at the same time. luckily even with all these things running it still installed ok.

Installation Impossibility

Sat Jan 31, 2009 1:06 am

I've also found it impossible to install the game on my computer - although there shouldn't be a problem with Vista as the instruction manual says the game is compatible with Vista.

It simply WILL NOT install, not even bringing up an auto run window or anything. I have been trying a few times a day for several days now and it simply will not do ANYTHING AT ALL.

Problems...

Sat Feb 28, 2009 2:14 am

It's a DVD - I ordered it in December. I put the DVD into the drive on my HP PC (with Vista) and it spins around and sounds like something should be happening, but nothing ever does. I click on E Drive to try to start it running from there, and not only does nothing happen but the entire My Computer screen stops responding to anything. There is definitely something on the DVD but it just will not initiate. VERY frustrating!

I think the DVD is broken or malfunctioning, so I'm contacting you via PM to give you the url to download the full installer. ;)
