Wrong CD key after patch!

I just installed the retail version with the cd key provided which was accepted - I then patched to 1.04d and since then the game won't start saying wrong cd key! Help......
Type again the serial key using the WW1 Configurator (Start menu > World War One > Configure Game).
Latest official patch is 1.04G.
