Manstein (USA) vs Johnnycai (CSA)

Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:50 pm

Just a little update on their game via some commentary... :)

Daxil: "How's your game going?"

Johnnycai: "In a word...."rotten".

Am getting beat bad as CSA, cant seem to stop Union forces even when dug in well and with reasonable odds. Lost New Orleans, Corinth, and Memphis all in the same fashion expecting to at least bloody his forces. A bad retreat path choice at Memphis towards the Union lines cost me 4 divs. ... . Awful. Every major battle result seems to have gone severely against me so far.
We're at turn 17/18.

I think I discussed with Karl to do the AAR, but was waiting several turns to not reveal and dispositions or strategy.

regards,
John"

Manstein: "Go ahead!!!!

We are at turn 15 or 16. I think that we will not reach to the final, because I surely will conquer all CSA objective cities. The previous turn, I surrounded and destroyed 5 rebel divisions.

It´s a pitty that we have not an AAR, but I cannot to do it, because I´m doing the great AAR for my game vs Coregonas and a little AAR for the Runyan vs Yellowhammer game and I haven´t free time for to do other AAR.
Br."

Sounds like Manstein has been using Blitzkrieg techniques..

Another update. We haven't heard from John since March 11 and so have assumed he resigned. If that status doesn't change as of the runyan99/yellowhammer game's conclusion manstein advances.

Yet another update- he's actually been on vacation, so they're just starting now and trying to hurry through.

Daxil,
I cannot reply to your PM as your PM mailbox wont accept additional messages unless you delete some(as of yesterday).

UPDATE on 2nd Match:
We are at Turn19 and the US(me) must win by Morale by turn20 to secure victory since Manstein won with the US in Turn21.
The current situation is that I am close the objectives needed, but it is unlikely I will be able to capture the remaining ones NO, Mobile (for the 2nd time) and Louisville in time. But we will see.

FYI, just in case I can force a morale victory in turn21 also (like Manstein did) what would the tie-breaker be??

Points. If you're still tied we'd figure something out. Maybe a mini scenario or something.

Johnnycai has surrendered to Manstein. Round 2 over. Congratulations Manstein!

I'll leave it to the players to post the details -- I'll have to reboot out of OS X to get into AACW.

Daxil,
For what its worth, these numbers were at turn20. They would be quite different if the game would have been allowed to finish.
Just an fyi if using these numbers for stats as I presume.

Yes. Those numbers really aren't that important for this tournament right now, though. I tried to be fair by noting that you were forced to cut it short. If they ever led to prizes or something we'd probably have to modify that.
