Tannenberg Scenario

Hi all. I'm relatively new to this game but I have about a dozen hours of playtime. For quite a while I have been trying to win the Tannenberg scenario as the Russians but so far it is proving too difficult for me. Do veterans of the game have any strategies and tips which might help me win? Thanks.

I've won this on easy level, just done it again to prove it!
Note that I think the victory/defeat screen is wrong - it says "German Victory" but the stars are all next to Russia because I got Konigsberg.
I did a slow advance, not a rush for Konigsberg.

I had a couple of attempts this evening (default difficulty and settings). I won once, but lost about four times. It seems like luck to come up against weak German detachments and breakthrough to Koenigsberg whilst avoiding the killer stacks.
