Thinking of buying

Sat Dec 14, 2013 3:06 pm

I was thinking of repurchasing World War One for my newer computer I have been looking around for information as WWI gold is indicated as being an update kit. My question then is: Is World War One Gold now a stand-alone game or do you still need the original game? Thanks for any information on this subject.

You don´t need the original game.

I´ve never had the first WW1, just went into with the gold edition.

I do not even think that the original is still for sale. Thought that there was something posted about this very topic but could not find it, as with Nebogipfel, I initially purchased just the Gold edition. Anyway, try the demo if unsure and should you acquire WW1G you will still need to patch it to the final v1.08Q version, which is no longer "new".

New Official Patch

Good luck.

I thought World War One Gold was stand-alone just wanted to be clear. Game has been purchased and patched, my thanks to Nebigipfel and Random for their responses. Also thanks to Calvinus and Random for their hard work bringing this game to where it is

And hopefully Random's mod will become an official patch soon because you really need it too.

This is a fine game, well worth your time.

Seriously though, we also need to acknowledge JMass' awesome graphics' mod that enhances clarity and comprehension of the map and Nef's sound mod too. WW1G is a really excellent game and I do not think there's another that captures the essence of The Great War as well

Completely agree WW1G does an excellent job on the Great War, you get feel of it while playing it. I support the idea of these mods being made into an official patch.

All the best features of all mods available + some errors removed from the AI's thinking (eg: Out of range of HQ sub-units, attack by reserve and mobilised corps in trench warfare & being too docile or suicidally aggressive on the whole) will make it the BEST 'GREAT WAR" GAME EVER.
