Two new question from playing the Entente

Thu May 09, 2013 2:07 pm

Started my first game as the Entente - naval warfare still fuzzy but I think I am gradually getting there (actually have let the AI play a lot the naval battles and just watched) - land war fare is really starting to make sense

Two questions
1) Italy has joined the Entente - however her parliamentary level came in to the far left (defeatism) - since then it has stayed there - I have had some success with the Italian armies but this has not helped - I have tried using the political action "Strengthen Parliament" but this has not helped - any ideas?

2) I am confused by the concept of using Escorts to fight Uboats - I understand that placing light warships on Patrol around England forms escorts - but the numbers on the Submarine Information Area on the map never make sense - there are times when I have no ships on patrol around England and still have Escorts in the Submarine Information Area - any help?

Thanks
Jack

1) Was the Political Action unsuccessful? So I guess...

2) You have to build as many Destroyers as possible. And I recall you have also to send the fleets (with Destroyers) to patrol mission...

Political Action was unsuccessful every time I have tried it. Is it normal for Italy to be so far the left (at defeatism)?

I have those being built - my bigger question is simply where does the number on the Submarine Information Area come from? Right now I only one fleet on Patrol in an area near England. This fleet has 2 cruiser units and 3 destroyer units - if I move this fleet to port the number of Escorts goes down by 5 - that makes sense - however that number is 13 right now - where are the other 8 escorts coming from?

If I recall correctly, all CL's and DD's in the Atlantic and the Channel count towards the Escort totals. Are you certain there are no forces there?

Hey Random - sorry this took so long - just got back from a trip with my wife

"If I recall correctly, all CL's and DD's in the Atlantic and the Channel count towards the Escort totals. Are you certain there are no forces there?" - this is what I thought and there are no forces there - I am going by memory - been gone for 10 days and trying to get caught up around the house - hope to play a little later in the day
