Hard Ceiling on Units?

I was trying to do some modding to v108M; adjusting some of the naval units and have run into a curious development.
Having added two fleets and several naval units, I find that the Japanese Navy has disappeared completely.
The only way this makes sense is if there is a hard cap on the number of units and/or detachments and/or fleets since it would seem that the Detachments.csv file loads from the top down.
I can find nothing in the user moddable files that indicate there is a ceiling on the numbers of units available. Calvinus once alluded to a reluctance to add more naval units as there were only so many slots in the battle screen but that should hardly apply on a global scale.
Does anybody know if there are numerical caps on fleets, detachments and armies? If so, are there any user mods that might increase these values.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
And approximately how many new units have you tried to add? I just felt myself adding new units for China and Afghanistan and had no problems.

Two fleets and four naval units to Russia, one naval unit to Austria, one naval unit to Italy, one naval unit to the USN. I do not think it a land unit issue but it looks like there s a limit to naval units and fleets.

Ok, strange, and you are exactly correct, all these units have registered in their files, as for the Navy to prescribe more than for conventional forces (Shipyards.csv, Fleets.csv, and also files Detachments.csv, Nations.csv and Units.csv)? Also check correctly you have written the information itself in these files, because the game is very sensitive to this (though I think you know this better me

) Just I know that there this game have no limit in adding of units.
Btw, and which two fleets you trying to add to Russia?

Since there was no editing of the entries for the Japanese Fleet there was no reason for it to vanish unless the new units somehow exceeded some unknown game limit and pushed them out of the queue. It's the only explanation that fits the evidence.
I created 2 submarine units for the Russian Navy, SS Narval for the Baltic Fleet and SS Akula for the Black Sea fleet. I had made these units earlier and kept them with their respective Fleets but submarine units perform best in the game if they are independent.
I suspect there is a cap on the absolute number of naval units and a separate one for Fleets. The question is, if so, can it be edited by the modder?

Hmm, okay, maybe. Well, a couple of days (somewhere on Tuesday, not before) I'll check it out and if I have a problem or it will work well, I'll let you know, okay? Until that time, I still help you in any way can not.

File parser is extremely sensible to ; { , and _ ...
So be sure you typed everything ok. Also check the Japanese detachments positions match with real area tags.

Done and done, I spent over 8-hours trying to solve this when I should have been splitting wood for the winter months and will repeat that no editing of the entries for the Japanese navy in any of the three relevent files (Units.csv and the Fleets.csv and Detachments.csv files for the GC2) was done.
As a test I did the following:
Removed all OOB changes by renaming the edited files.
Reinstalled v108M
Ran game; Japanese Navy complete and correct.
Added edited Units.csv file (attached)
Ran game; Japanese Navy now missing all cruisers and destroyers and limited to four units only.
Added edited Detachments.csv to the GC2 folder.
Ran game; Japanese Fleet vanished, all edited changes present.
This is a pleasant surprise but aren't you supposed to be on vacation, Sir?
Note, the attached Units.csv has the following amendments, the entries for the Japan are stock:
1. Austrian LC unit added, other Austrian naval units amended to remove non-historical ships;
2. Italian LC unit added, other naval units amended to reflect Italian fleet organization;
3. Russian AC, DD and 2 x SS units added and other naval units amended to correct OOB errors in stock;
4. Added LC unit, OOB tweaked and fictional CA USS Rockhampton removed; and
5. Spelling errors corrected in RN naval units.
The GC2 Detachments.csv incorporates the following changes:
1. Greek Navy edited so B and AC units show up;
2. Dutch Navy edited so B and AC units show up;
3. Other changes as listed above are implemented when the GC2 is started but the Japanese Fleet, whose entries remain stock, vanishes.

Bump!
Tried editing the naval issues away without adding any new units and curiously, the Japanese navy disappeared again.
Cut and pasted the entire entry for all Japanese units into the Detachments.csv below the entries for the US Army and the Navy of Nippon returns in all its glory.
To test, cut and pasted the text back to the bottom of the Detachments.csv file and the navy vanished again...
Restored it as above and all seems to work as desired and there does not seem to be anything missing.

Ok I'll examine the files when back from holidays.

Since it appears that Calvinus is back from holidays, I'll bump this again for the modders out there.

Yes, let me spend some time working on PBEM improvement features suggested somewhere else on the forum and I'll turn back on this stuff.

Errors found:
- in Detachments CSV the last row is not ended by a new line (Enter key)
- JAP_B_Idzumo must be JAP_AC_Idzumo
- JAP_CL_Fuso is not mapped in Units CSV
- JAP_DD_Katsura and JAP_DD_Sakaki because max units in CSV allowed are 1024, so I have to change game code to allow it
Herewith attached you can find corrections (I've put JAP_CL_Chiyoda in the place of JAP_CL_Fuso).

Thank you Calvinus. So the hard ceiling is 1024 units in the Units.csv and this number has apparently been reached. Little point in trying to add additional units but it's not a big deal.

For 1.08N I increased that number to 1536.
