Sorry, I still don't understand your question? Barbara Tuchman's book describes the German offensive to the Marne. She takes the position that the German Offensive didn't defeat the French; the subsequent "Miracle" of the Marne didn't defeat the Germans. Therefore, and tragically, the war went on. Hope that answers your question.

Buy it...absolutley superb first hand account by the English Liaison Officer...a true classis...a big book and very cheap at Amazon UK the moment.
