Hello,

I just bought a copy from http://www.gamersgate.com

I'm having trouble learning how to play, but I can see it has a lot of potential and I willing to put the effort to learn the system. I bought the civil war game in the past, and I am happy to see all the the new ideas you have incorporated into WWI Gold.

Try reading a couple of AAR's, if you're having trouble. They don't explain everything, but I always find AAR's immensely helpful, when trying to learn complex games such as this.

So... How much WWI Gold version / upgrade kits do you have sold since its release? Are you satisfied (I hope!) with it?

The word is still getting out about the gold version and once the impressions and professional reviews start coming in, more people will know. Right now, it's mostly being passed around by word of mouth by the people who have the gold version. I know the Wargamer forum has a long thread about the game.

Yeah, but I don't think any major wargames websites or magazines will review this new-game-that-is-not-a-one-really, nor even just talk about it :(

In fact I contacted the main two PC game Italian reviews one month ago: no reply! :( :( :(

In the meantime, is it possible you could open a WW1 Gold subforum on the Paradox Interactive forum? As it is still a AGEOD game, I don't see any legal obstacle against it (unless there are some which I don't know about).

By having an active forum on this forum, this could possible attract more possible customers who either don't know the game or were disappointed by the first version and put it on the backburner.

Just a suggestion. :)

I've already asked why only Rise of Prussia (nothing surprising here) and AACW were represented on the Paradox forums... Actually I did never get any answers. That's taboo I guess.

I cannot open a WW1 thread on main folder of Paradox.
Philippe should ask to do it to Paradox forum manager.

There is a new forum on Paradox which covers all AGEOD games, here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=532

Trouble is that they forgot to create a WW1 Gold category ;) (although the game is not 'technically' based on AGE engine)

PhilThib:
The game engine looks pretty simular to me. What are the main behind the scenes difference ???

Well, not counting map and graphics, we have much improved AI, bug fixes and all patches additions since 2008 included, new game functionalities... make the gameplay experience more interesting.

What I was talking about is the difference between your regular updated AGE engine ( http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=450246 ) and the WW1 Gold engine.

I have a number of your games including WW1 Gold and they all play pretty simular. This is why I asked the question.

Well, here there is a confusion: AGEOD is both a publisher and a developper, and in fact we have 2 types of products:

* AGE ENGINE games :cool:
These are our most famous and renown games, based on a specific engine, called AGE. Among the games on this engine, we have:

- Birth of America
- AACW
- Napoleon's Campaigns
- Wars in America
- Rise of Prussia
- Vainglory of Nations (upcoming)

* Other games
These games are made on different engines (usually a different code language too) and NOT produced by our inhouse team, but by talented independent game developpers. We have:

- Great Invasions
- World War One
- World War One Gold

- Montjoie

The first three here are made on an engine developped by Calvinus ;)

Now this is the game we have been waiting for when it was released two years ago (not that the original was worse, I've "lost" a decent amount of time on it). It is evident that making RoP has rubbed off in some other departments :sourcil:

I'm sorry I have only just found about this miraculous upgrade while checking what Paradox had on PoN/VGN. The control is easier, the battles are more easily followed and most importantly, you no longer need to hit just the right pixel when managing armies. Making detachments was a complex process back then.

All in all, 10 euros well spent.

Hey everybody, I just purchased WW1 Gold on the AGEOD website and I downloaded it once, but I can't download it to a second computer! Is this how it is supposed to work?

i think i actually figured it out, i guess you need to buy the option to download it more than once. silly mistake on my part. i'm just used to steam which allows you to download things as many times as you'd like.
