How do I detach a corps from an army to make a detachment of the army, rather than an independent unit?

Drag & drop the corps from the bottom frame to the map, over the same are where the source stack is located. This will create a new stack with the dragging corps. If the new stack is not assigned to the source army, drag & drop this new stack with the right mouse key over the same map area. Once dropped, you will see a popup menu with the list of all armies to whom you can assign that stack...
