Supply Questions

Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:27 am

1.05c August 1914

This turn Ist Army has moved into Antwerp with a detachment behind it converting the rail lines.

IInd Army is besieging Liege with a detachment converting the rail lines behind it, Liege is still in Belgian hands.

IIIrd Army has moved 1 area south from Luxembourg territory and converted the rail lines.

Ist Army and detachment and IIIrd Army are marked as isolated and are disbanded in the September turn.

Does this mean that Ist Army can only trace a supply line through Liege, and will have to wait for Liege to fall before advancing into Belgium?

And why is IIIrd army isolated? Can't it trace supply through Luxembourg, or back to the south through Thionville? Does the river break between Thionville and Luxembourg city mean that there is no supply line between them?

Did you declare war on the Dutch?

Luxembourg is a known problem which only recently surfaced, due to some earlier supply miscalculations (which hide the fact that Luxembourg is not giving right of passage supply-wise).

As for the isolation - wow! :o

This is a scenario dependent situation. Luxemburg is suppose to allow supplies to flow under the Shlieffen Plan. Also, under the same plan, supplies are suppose to be able to floe through Maastrich (for the first Army at least).

If you are using the Shlieffen Plan, then something screwy is going on-if not; then it is to be expected-except for the 3rd Army, it looks like it should be in supply range from Germany-unless Luxemburg actually can block it.

This is the Schlieffen Plan with no declaration of war on the Dutch, or on Luxembourg for that matter.

I tried a replay and the French attacked Saarbourg, got beaten back, but still managed to convert the rail line to French.

Should conversion only be allowed if an area is empty or if the defenders have been beaten and exited the area?

Also I believe a proposed fix is to allow the owner of an area to convert the rail line without having to move, which would be really helpful.
