Campaign Game Couple of queries

Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:36 am

I've nowbeen able to get deeper in the game and the more I do the more I love it and admire the skill which has brought this to a computer.

Couple of things - I'm all at sea with regard to naval action. I've no idea how this works. I've had two engagements and eventually delegated them to the AI who seems to be able to do things I could not. I assume all of this will become clearer when the naval section of the manual is published?

The other issue is time. In the second August '14 turn, the AI took 17 minutes to determine its moves and this is not on the setting which gives the AI full time for consideration. I don't mind the delay per se - in the past I've almost fallen asleep waiting for opponents to plan moves over board games, but I'd just like to be clear that this is normal. If it is, could some sort of meter be provided which indicates what the AI is doing?

You disabled the "Give AI full time" options, right? Have I understood well?
It's veery strange you have to wait such a long time... Even with later timelines, 1916, 1918, 1919, I never wait more than 4-5 minutes... :bonk:
I mean that savegames (gently provided by you all), where almost all nations are at war (so additional work for AI, so more time for work)...

What are the specs of your PC?

Do you want to post here a zipped savegame so that I can check if you have some strange situation that causes such long AI times?

And... what version are you playing???
I suppose the 1.05A (that one where the extremely long supply checks have been boosted). ;)

Btw, 1.05B is available for download: you will find Battle AI boosted!

You are correct, give AI full time is disabled. I have quite a high end PC which normally crunches numbers at great speed. I can well appreciate the volume of processing which must occur - as a human, well almost :w00t: , it takes me a lot longer at the moment to work out my own moves.

Unfortunately, I have ditched my savegames and started the campaign again. If the delay is repeated, I will let you have a zip to play with.

I'll d/l .05B at once.
