Is Clemenceau event automatically active if the Entente choose to keep it?

Based on the description is seems a really good idea to use that event card to have Clemenceau appointed PM. The thing is that I never has prompted to activate the card. Is it automatically activated? Is there some way to determine who the PM of France is?

Nope, we did not include (yet) some data or info on who is the PM... that could be a funny (and not too complex) set of events to do...for chrome...

We would need, for each nation, names of:

- Head of state (+ date of demise if he dies or his removed during the war)
- Head of Government (with dates)

+ some random names (of those who "could" have been head of government)

From that I could build some events, giving a bit of extra chrome... we could link this with the Political Actions too...

As for Clemenceau, this is indeed a good move...although with a limited but possible risk... Clemenceau had powerful enemies in the French 'Assemblée' and we have an event where, in case France NW drops much or if France loses a symbolic NW city (e.g. Verdun) that Clemenceau is removed and France may even sue for peace... !!!

Conditions for playing Clemenceau event:

BeginCondition
Type=EC_DateCheck
Parameters=1,1917,Start
EndCondition

So not allowed before 1917.

It’s just that it – like every card – can be picked and kept from the very start of the game. I did so as one of the 7 cards I was allowed to keep but it wasn’t listed with the other cards kept. Am I to assume it will appear as a playable event card in 1917?

Also there is no real reason for the restriction to 1917: He was a PM before the war after all. No reason he could not have been elected earlier then 1917.

What file are you quoting? Seems reading the configuration files may be a very good supplement to the manual.

Also, eventually for chrome, having the governmental leaders available would be fun.

Reasons are pure boardgame adaptation and verified play balance ;) (giving Clémenceau to France earlier is a SERIOUS advantage)...

This of course cand be moddded...

As an alternative, we could also work out some trick that unplayable events are no longer in the pool at least more than one year before (i.e. 1916+ events would not be in the drawing pool in 1914)...my 2 cents :)

This point has been discussed a few other times. I think a nice improvement would be to add a "discard" button... ;)

And – oh please god – indicate on the card that it is not playable until 1917. For thouse of us who haven’t played the boardgame it is impossible to know.
