:thumbsup :D ECISIVE VICTORY-I steamrolled the Kaisers' elite 1st Army right into Paris!!! Germany is dominant till the end of the century :D
I think I have mastered the game, and I'm ready for AGEODS next one.. :mdr:
It is probably better I don't know all the rules,I didn't get bogged in details!
Just joking about quitting.Obviously there is an undiscovered bug that allowed this. No doubt calvinus will fix! :niark: Now I'll see about Russia rolling to Berlin. :dada:
I'm looking forward to the next patch!
Thank you,goodnight :neener:

p.s.-sorry about the useless post, but the wife is shopping, and is not here to see my victory dance :happyrun: I had to brag to someone!

Congratulations; but we need details. How long did it take? Did the Belgians resist? Did you raze Paris?

Let me know the details and I'll wire Barbara Tuchman to request a revision.

Dear Von Rocko, if you entered Paris, this is not a bug!
Automatic conditions of victory before 1915 are:
- take Paris by Germans for CP;
- take Berlin by Russians for Entente.

So, if you entered Paris with Germans before 1915 you have really won the war! After 1914, you must seek the "political" victory. This is clearly written even in the small printed manual.

Sorry calvinus, that was a joke! I just meant any game that lets me win decisively must have something wrong! :mdr:
thanks

Well if you really want to know: Game ended Nov-Dec 1914.I started with the basic Schlieffen plan, good morale ,events.A.H.had attack serbia plan, good moral, events.
Early Aug.on the west,I sent 1st army to Antwerp, detaching one corp to fix railroad in Hasselt.I sent 2nd army to Leige, split 3rd into Bastogne and Neufchatel. Leige and Antwerp fell.
In Aug.. 3rd army consolidated the Ardennes and closed on Sedan.4th army left Luxemberg to take Longwy. 2nd army takes Namur,Belgians offer little resistance! 5th,6th,7th hold off French attacks in Alsace (plan XX I believe).
I split about four corps off of 1st army, plus two cav.units.and sent them past bruxles (which just had a wouned Belgian cav.) as far as they could move,to different areas(Ghent,Bruges,Osten,Mons,Charleroi) with the cav.repairing rails(on clear plains they can repair 2 hexes).Main 1st army took Bruxles.
The BEF showed up at Maubeuge, which is where the Belgians also ended up.
All my German reinforcements I placed near 1st+2nd armies.
In Sep. 2nd army dumped its slow artillery and moved to Guise.1st army fought the Bef at Mons, forcing the Bef to Douai. Meanwhile, the single detachments continued to move as far as possible capturing Lille,Hazbrouk,Dunkerque.French continue attacking Alsace, movig no one west(north?)(left?) to Paris.
In Oct. some new British came in and moved towards Amiens. The 1stBef remained in Douai, and the French continued their Alsace attacks. My detachments made it to the Somme, taking all areas except Douai. The main 1st army swung east of Douai and ended at Saint Quentin. The Bef did not move or intercept(they could have stopped me here if they would have attacked my 1st army). This left the 1st British army at my rear, the 2nd British army heading towards Boulogne, one French corp in Amiens, and the nearest French army in Sedan! The road to Paris was wide open! :neener:
In Nov.I moved 1st army(just 3 good corps and an artillary) from St.Quentin to Paris. The enemy didn't move one unit towards Paris? I had a siege of Paris, and I must have got a bit lucky, because I won the battle with just the first bombardment, and fortunately didn't have to assault. Then the victory screen came right up.
Basically,I poured everything I could into Belgium, made multiple detachments and sent them pass the enemy(blitzkrieg WW1 style) not worried about supply or what is ahead. If I'd have known the rule details, maybe I would have been more cautious, buy sometimes ignorence is bliss!
Thanks  :coeurs:

Actually Calvinus, it would be nice if the French stopped their attacks on Alsace and redeployed more than their V army around Sedan. The French seem to adhere too much to the original plan.

von Rocko's blitzkrieg is also possible for another reason: the BEF arrives unsupplied. It's easy to throw it back since it suffers from grevious penalties.

Well there are restrictions on that based on their choice of War Plan.

I must say, calvinus' tweaks to the AI and that nasty french army in Paris, have kept me from repeating my first blitzkrieg!
Looks like it's going to be a long war! ;)
Thanks calvinus :coeurs:
