Combat results

Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:20 pm

Am I the only one who is annoyed by the combat result display? Sometimes the results overlap and cannot be read. Sometimes they scroll by very fast. Why is there no popup window or similar? Also, the battle result screen is not very detailed. One should be able to click on the categories to see the exact units shaken, wounded etc.

You are definitely not alone. Everything about this interface is screwed up! From the map to the buttons and everything in between! Seems to me that very little thought was put into the design. And logical stepped turns have been destroyed by redundant tasks, such as the diplomacy, which you can change every turn, but only counts every interphase? You waste hours(days) reading the little pop-ups and lame rules, only to have the game freeze and crash as soon as you try to make a move. Some patch they made!
This game needed 6 more months of testing, instead of rushing it out prematurely. :(

As much as I see the games potential, I've faced similar problems and been annoyed at the time wasted to understand or get through one month.

The combat interface I already wrote my complaints on in forum. Yes, results over-lap and it's impossible to figure out what's happening IN-ACTION (not results).

Also, quick question here. I had one unit that was attacked and no reserves. There was a quick 1 segment battle. In my results I saw that I had 1 unit wounded and 1 unit destroyed, does this make sense? Was my SINGLE unit wounded and then destroyed or ???

Either way I hope the combat result (actual battle display is VERY NICE :) ) interaction are fixed to be more appealing and concise as to what is happening. Very big bug to have combat result text on top of each other and thus can't really read either.

Speaks volumes of potential that I still try and fight my way through each turn even though sometimes I feel blind walking over broken glass.

I agree with some of the comments here. The combat results flash by too fast and overlap other text. Perhaps a pop-up window can display with the combat results and would allow the user to click to continue after reviewing the results.

But I still consider the overall interface of the game to be pretty good. I like the battle interface as it is.

The battle interface is fine (the drag and drop thing gets annoying a bit, a simple double click would be nicer, but hey, there you go)...it's the combat results during the battle that are messy and the after combat screen which does not give enough information.

This is an aspect that will be improved / enriched for sure. Just give us the time to finish all battle animations and work out a more detailed battle report.

Thanks,

Battle window improvement, as requested by some of you, is scheduled for the December patch.

Wonderful I look forward to it. I must say that I'm very impressed with the quick responses to all my questions and the attitude of the developers to make timely improvements.

This makes me feel good about my purchase!

Well, me too, but it would have been better for AGEOD's reputation if WWI was working out of the box. :siffle:

The December Patch is the one I will wait for now...back to other games.
