Game is Effecting Volume

Wed Nov 19, 2008 3:35 am

This sounds wierd but it is true. Since I patched to 1.04 the game is effecting the volume settings on my PC. Volume gets very low, then if I change a screen or menu it blares all of a sudden. At one point I quit game and changed speakers because I couldn't get any volume even after I left the game. Decided to run game again and during play I changed a menu screen and it blared again. I use my own playlist running in background so it is not the in-game music I am speaking of. I have a dual core; shouldn't the music play on one core and the game on another ??

I have volume now but when I play the game I lose it and get it back according to the menu I choose. Never happened before. It's the game, trust me.

I've also notice my loading times are much longer under 1.04. Gameplay fine except that I did have a CTD in about an hour of play.

I think I have found the problem. Shutting off sound effects in the game shuts down my computer's sound period; even after I have exited the game. Restarting my PS does not help. I have no sound until I reconfigure the sound for the game and then restart the game.

I can keep my PC's sound intact by disabling the in-game music, provided, I do not delete the "sound effects" and also do not lower the volume of the sound effects with the in-game slider. Wierd.

Yes, as said in other threads, the MP3 play-back library I use (external) is not good! I'm moving to another library... (It causes also CTDs).
