Gameshark Review

Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:07 pm

Great review of ACW on Gameshark by Troy S. Goodfellow. Congrats.

A quote:

American Civil War demonstrates that AGEod is on to something. The recently released Napoleonic Campaigns is yet another variation on the system, and each version of the engine shows that Thibaut and company understand the difference between complex and complicated, between traditional and stagnant, between innovation and apostasy. Though AGEod has said it wants to make games that aren’t like this, it would be okay if we saw another five. Maybe the Thirty Year’s War, next time?

An another:
American Civil War is a brilliant mix of simplicity and depth and is one of the very best Civil War games around.

Another feather in AGEOD's hat. Most well-deserved, IMHO :)

Two thumbs up to Troy S. Goodfellow.

One of the best professional game reviews I read in a long time! He must have played ACW a long time and with great interest to come to the conclusions he makes - he is spot on in his praise and criticism. Now I wish we had the old times back and all reviewers would work like him ..

Troy is one of the few reviewers out there these days who primarily reviews strategy games, so it's not surprising that he would produce a well-reasoned review.
