Game stalling

Sat Jan 30, 2010 3:59 pm

1.06 w/interim update 3. Vista machine, plenty of RAM & CPU. This is the second campaign which has had this problem (unfortunately I deleted the first). Game begins to process turn, then hangs. Taskmanager reports "program not responding". Both campaigns had reached approximately same point - earlyish 1779. I did have some trouble installing interim 3 (see that thread for details), so perhaps that's the problem?

See the IU post, as I did screw up the installation file :o

I suggest you, uninstall, then completely delete your installation and reinstall to be safe.
Copy or otherwise set aside your saves, then put them back after reinstallation...

These gradual stalls are nearly impossible to replicate, as I'm a true believer that "there is no such thing as an identical machine". I'll look at you save, but don't hold your breath!!!

Hmm, I actually CAN replicate it!

It has nothing to do with IU version 3 [happens with 'vanilla 1.06 too]

Something is whacky with the SPA Supply being loaded onto bateaux at region Tonicas:
  • If executed as saved, gave hangs.
  • If I cancel the order to load the supply onto ships [hitting delete key], the supply is miraculously placed immediately on the ship and turn executes properly [supply goes with ships]

Clearly "ye bug", and will be send to Dr. Pocus.
Be patient with this, as RoP is top priority, so it may be a while to get a patch to fix this....

You can 'fudge' your save using my method!

fixed, this was an endless loop where the supply wagon being loaded should have aborted its order but was not and this kicked again the test, indefinitely. (this was the bug, and this is an old code which never triggered, not a recent addition)
It was aborting its order because there was a possibility of a fight in the region (contested region), this is WAD. If you don't want that, you should put him in Evade Fight and it will be loaded.

Thank you for the report, it helps make the games better!
