Hi all,

I have been seeing a very frequent occurence of epidemics during winter months. Since getting WiA I have only really played the Lobsterbacks, but it has been happening often enough that I thought I'd ask:

What goes into the chances?

It has even been happening to small stacks. (Both by my and the game's standards.) It is happening more in coastal regions, but that is probably only due to the fact that that is where most of my forces are.

In some scenarios, there are 'sanitation' events that strike large stacks

In winter, all regions can be randomly 'struck' with varying probability.

There are added 'swampy area' epidemics in the deep south and south central, and many coastal regions are swamps.

Sickness and disease were the #1 cause of attrition in those days....

You may even encounter a smallpox epidemic or two...

So get out of the swamps. Not much you can do to avoid winter illness...
Buy replacements...

Smallpox may be the major reason the American invasion of Canada was defeated in 1775-76.
