BOA2 or WIA is different from other AEGOD games in strategy. This game is a War of Posts with the opposing army being an important, but secondary target. Which means, look at victory conditions for Strategic and Objective Cities. Each you control provides you more Victory Points and more EP. Each of the various Wars involve different strategies, but all games share the concept of taking the key Posts while holding the opposing army at bay or defeating it.
Supply in WIA is central to winning. Supply is also handled differently. While there are more complexities than this brief summary, units must be in cities with sufficient supply to rebuild.
Conceptually, you are not attempting to form a front and advance that front, instead you are trying to control Grand Regions to limit your opponent's reinforcements and to gain VP and EP.
