Colonial Campaigns?

I have looked around but have been unable to find the answer. What is the difference between the normal campaigns and the colonial variants? I can't seem to find any differences in the scenarios and the FAQ mentions nothing.

The Colonial variants use a separate "faction" for the British colonial troops (Provos, Militia).
In game terms, this introduces extra complexity in Command structure, as a British Regular leader does not command Colonial troops well. You'll see a command penalty in a stack with "colonials" unless you have either a Colonial leader also, or a Leader with the Ability for combined control.
Incidentally, the French have the same issue with Canadian troops (and have had this challenge since day 1 of WIA).
Otherwise, the scenarios are essentially the same as the "vanilla" versions.
We did this to better simulate the wide-spread disdain that British Regular leaders had for the Provos and Militia....

Yes, that is a good description, Lodilefty. The FIW Colonial faction campaign variant has become a favorite of mine, as it is difficult to find enough leaders for all those "homegrown militia".
To VonSachsen, if you read about the war, you will find that Colonial leaders could be difficult allies in of themselves. It is little wonder that the British expected no organized resistance from them 20 years later.

Great and thank you, I shall drive the French from the colonies regardless of the penalties.

However one more question since I don't want to start whole new thread. I understand the supply systems in ROP and AACW just fine, but can't seem to get my head around the one in WIA2. The flow of supplies is much less obvious and as a result my poor troops are sitting in camp half-starving. Is there any trick to it?

There is no flow of supplies I think. That's why building depots in places where you want to defend or hold your forces for winter is so important.
