Hi

Foreign intervention is always in help of the rebels.
When it reach 100 (in standard FI setting, you can make it easier or harder to get in the options) a series of events (French declaration of war to the British and the like) will end with the French sending armies and fleets to the colonies. Later, the Spanish will also intervene in the south and west.
The British can slow down the FI or even win the game before it happens.
The better the Brits do in the camping the slower the FI will go up.
You also have several options to try to slow it down and there is several very historical events that give big increases or decreases to the FI number.
Cheers

thank you.. I saw that I could take the Rebal capital.. done that, took every major city save on or two, but seems the number keeps rising, even spend ep on lobbying in France, or whatever it is called...

Rebel diplomacy still goes on.

...and the French just don't like you at all ;)

Keep capturing strategic towns. Each 'Theater' controlled fully reduces chance the French send troops....

100 means the Alliance should have been announced....

Now, actual intervention will depend on aforementioned control of Theaters...

...the more Theaters fully controlled by GBR, the later the intervention of troops and ships, if at all!

ok, I think its 77or 78, Getting readdy to restart and apply the lessons learned, I have taken every major city save pittsburgh.. there really is great depth to this ai.. I am impressed and wonder if after learning the game engine how well it will do at the hardest of levels.. I swear it cheats though! lol
I attacked NYC immediately after ai rebels attack nyc same month, and instead of fighting, they had just overrun the city, they turn tail and run.. I thought even in the same month, which means the logic settings are great! for the ability to see if the streagnths are in ones favor and leave if a no go.. WOW.. interesting

Hi
If you have the Americans on the run, the French alone won't have strength enough to win you... but will make things more interesting ;)

Fleets: except the merchants that don't consume supply, you have to send ships back to port to resupply form time to time even if they re not damaged.
Or if you don't want to bother with it, check the game options. T
There is one just for this ;)

There is French Alliance - triggered by FI
There is French/Spanish Intervention - regulated by number of cities owned by GBR

The FI [Foreign Intervention] number will continue to climb. WAD. [diplomats still at work]

By capturing all cities, you drastically reduce the possibility that French Troops will intervene.

arsan: Sudden Death is not activated for the GBR side. Long discussion, probably needs revisite... :D

without turning off foriegn intervention, I got troops everywhere !!! AAUUGGHH
How can I reduce the chances other than taking all the cities.. I think They hold two in the last game and I got rebels and French everywhere!!!
Seems I need a new battle plan... I succeeded in almost everything, took all the ports.. then all of New England.. What affect doeas adding Merchants from the spends have?
Perhaps I should play as teh rebals and see their discomfort! lol

So right now you need to really play the WHOLE war with GBR. Here goes my strategy to quickly win the war :bonk:

Yes, something that could use re-thinking IMO.

Just agreed with my opponent to end a game where GBR had taken every objective, every strat city except Habana and Natchez, the Continental Army was hopelessly besieged in Portsmouth, and there were no other significant forces in British North America.

Not much point in playing to the last turn in this situation. In effect, the players are declaring a sudden death victory, but some kind of victory screen would be more satisfying.
