Combat: a breakdown

Fri Aug 07, 2009 7:38 pm

I have not used the battle report program yet, so please bear with me

As I understand combat it has 6 rounds per day

Will combat ALWAYS be 6 rounds (if a force doesn't retreat)?

How do you determine what the maximum range is for combat to START? I know it says terrain determines this but is there a list of the distances according to terrain anywhere?

For example I would not want to move my range 3 units into a terrain that I know would allow combat at range 4

So the way I see it is that one unit that has a range of 4 will fire first. Then the range reduces by one, so that the range becomes 3. Then anyone that has a range of 3 fires. Then the range becomes 2. This goes on until range is 0 and then Assault is used

Also, the battle circle disappears FAST on my computer, and I have it set to maximum delay. is this because the battle is fast with small combatants?

Thanks for all replies

:bonk:
I'm not much into this kind of game mechanics details... i just round up my men and send them straight ahead to do or die ;) :D
But maybe this old post form Pocus explaining the combat mechanics can be of some help

Bear in mind it's about BoA1, not WIA, but the basics should be mostly the same.

The battle circle speed is indeed affected by the size of the battle. Big battles on long delay will take a while. But small skirmishes will be very fast even with max delay.
Cheers!
