BOA2 - WIA: German version? Screen Modes?

Sun Apr 12, 2009 12:52 am

I installed BOA 2 and the last patch 1.04c. Two questions:

1. How can I activate the german language version of the game that seems to be installed with the last patch?

2. Configuration utility: Is it possible that there's no difference between "Fixed resolution (borderless)", "Fixed resolution (maximized)" and "Fullscreen" mode? I can't see any changes, the game always seem to be in fullscreen mode. (I use a widescreen monitor with a screen resolution of 1680x1050.)

Hi!
You have to edit with notepad the general.opt file to activate the third language (German for you, spanish for me ;) )
Search for the file in
C:\Program files\Wars in America\WIA\Settings

Open it with notepad and on the top you will see:

2. *** General interface choices ***
// language (0: English; 1: Francais; 2: Espanol; 3: Deutsche)
Language = 0
ThirdLanguage = -1

Edit it so it looks like this

2. *** General interface choices ***
// language (0: English; 1: Francais; 2: Espanol; 3: Deutsche)
Language = 3
ThirdLanguage = 3

Save changes, close the file and you are set :thumbsup:
Just start the game again and it should be on German. And from now on German will be on the options menu as one of the selectable languages.

By the way, never share this file with anybody. It contains your serial info at the bottom.

About your second question, i have never tinkered much with it, but i guess this options are related with the resolutions drop down menu you have under them.
Have you tried to select other resolutions (not your desktop one) from there?

Regards

Arsan, you're getting my personal hero... :)

Thanks a lot for your help! I found out how to activate the german language by myself, but didn't know what the function of the "Third language"-option was. Now I know it and everything works fine. I'm playing with german language now, which makes it much easier for me.

WIA really seems to be the game I've been looking for a long time and now I found it by accident. Finally I found a chesslike strategy game with a lot of game depth, historical background and no hectic real time game mechanics - GREAT! :thumbsup:

Now I have to go back playing the tutorial...
