How to play against myself?

Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:19 am

Goodaye,

In an effort to understand the game mechanics better I'd like to play a scenario where I can control both sides.

Is this possible? I'm sure it is, I just can't figure out how to do it.

Cheers,
Plugger

HotSeat gaming

It's fairly easy, but a little tedious:

In Main Menu, Options, AI: uncheck the 'Use AI' box
[Not really needed, but it safer if you forget to give one side it's orders! :siffle: ]

Load new game, either side, give game a distinctive name

  1. Give orders to side 1
  2. Save game
  3. Go to menu, load game, choose the other side
  4. Give orders
  5. Save Game
  6. Execute Next Turn

Do each turn 1-6 same way.

It doesn't matter which sde you give orders first
It doesn't matter which side you are "in" to execute next turn.

Have fun! :)

Goodaye,

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I'll get onto it.

One other question. The Terrain matrix and Weather region XLS files available in the BoA modding forum. Are they the same files used by WIA?

No. WiA has completely different weather zones, weather types.... :siffle:

Although WiA was 'based on' BoA, it has almost everything changed from BoA.... :innocent:

Fair enough,

Where would I find the relevant XLS files for WIA then?

They haven't been published yet; currently, the WIA database is seeing such a number of continuing updates that any published files will quickly be out of sync with what you'll be encountering in the next patch.

I do expect them to be published soon, though, without being able to pinpoint a date for it.

Goodaye,

O.K. That's reasonable. I'll just have to wait.

Can I assume that the terrain matrix has changed in WIA along with the Weather or is it essentially the same as BoA?

Cheers,
