TDM Picture No Longer Displaying General

Sat Jun 12, 2010 3:39 pm

Hi all,

I just recently got this game and am really enjoying it. I think it is first rate. Here's my question:

I'm in the middle of the AWI campaign. After the end of a turn, the troop display markers on the map suddenly stopped displaying a picture of the general commanding the force. Now, they just show the picture of a combat unit in the force (as if there were no commanding general - even though the force panel still shows the general in command). Any suggestions on how to revert back to the prior mode where the general is displayed? (I find it easier to keep track of my forces that way. And it gives the map more personality.)

Thanks very much!

Hi!
Your problem is strange indeed
Try this to fix it:
Close the game.
Look for this file on your WIA installation folder

Program files (or wherever you installed it)\AGEOD\Wars in America\WIA\Settings\general.opt

Open it with notepad and look for these lines

6. *** Display options ***
LeaderOnTop = 1

If the number shown there is not "1", change it to "1" (to activate the "Leaders on top" option)
If the number is 1 and you don't see the leaders on the stack markers... well, i'm clueless! :bonk:
Hope it helps! :)

Thanks Arsan! That fixed the problem. My general.opt file actually didn't have that line at all. So I just pasted it in with the value set to 1 and now it works.

Glad it worked!
But i have no idea why your options file didn't had that line
My WIA has it as all the other AGEOD games... well, i suppose there is no need to worry as long as everything works OK now
Cheers
