Some questions about patch 1.06

Mon Feb 08, 2010 5:41 am

Dear fellows, its now the first time i played with WIA at the actual patch 1.06
and I have seen some weird things as I understand.

First in the British Campaign I got the Canadian Army under Bourgoyne at a sea entry point in the utmost Northeastern part of the Map and could it only move to the Atlantic coast but not to Quebec. Is that WAD??

Second: As I remember from earlier games before the actual patch I got no Training Officers with the British like before. In former games I got one with Bourgoyne and another one with Cornwallis, but there appeared no one in 1776.
Could it be that I remember that a little bit wrong or will be there some trainers later in the game with the British and who is it. Can you give me the names and the date of their appearance??

Third: Who are the Training Officers of the Rebels and when will they appear??
I know Steuben, but who else will be there??

Fourth: In my second try with the USA I managed the Gage Army to surrender to me in the second turn, so that Howe appeared near Norfolk, but it seems to me that there will be not enough new American militia for me recruiting/appearing.

Fifth: The Americans got only around 4 engagement points per turn, but the British got around 8 points per turn. Is that WAD??
As an American player I got nearly all strategic cities in the colonies besides Norfolk. I have Boston and the British have only Norfolk, Quebec, Montreal, Ft. Detroit as important cities, sorry I forgot Vincennes and Pensacola and Mobile and Kingston and Halifax. So I thought that I would get enough engagement points from the cities and even more troops, but there comes no more continentals inmidst 1776. I got only two continental Infantry so far besides the Marblehead and the Continental Dragoons.

I hope that you can help me with some of my questions so that I better understand what has changed since patch 1.04.

1) The Saint Lawrence is probably frozen, or ice covered. So you will have to move Burgoyne either to Halifax to wait for better weather, or land him elsewhere...

2) The British get a few training officers, but I can't tell when exactly...

3) no idea...

4) You have a lot of militia in New England at the start, really a lot. From the British perspective Boston usually is a death trap to starve in...

5) The British get bonus EP for controlling certain ports, keeping European waters free of US ships, keeping merchant ships in the various offcoast boxes etc. Not sure what the US get them for, maybe someone else can clarify that...

Hi!
1- As Caranorn says  Whether is somewhat random, so sometimes you will have to wait at sea one turn for the St lawrence to became navigable or use them on other place.
2- Can't recall now :bonk: But nothing has been changed here for what i know. In 1.06 training officers don't need to command the stack to have effect, but thats all that changed.
3- Wayne too IIRC. Appears at Philadelphia on early 76 i think. There is also a Master driller around (Crawford?) and maybe another Trainer latter in the campaign (not 100% sure). And Steuben of course!
4- 76-77 are the most difficult times for the USA. You must keep on surviving, but things will improve. Militias-continentals arrive twice yearly (march-june IIRC). Use you training officers to get the continentals up to trained continentals as they won't go home in winter (but will lose some elements still :bonk :) The more active the Brits are on the colonies (without completely controlling them) the most militias you will get as people will get annoyed by them.
5- Its normal. GBR has always gathered more EP points than the USA. Now they get much less, but still more than the USA.
As the USA, send privateers to the naval boxes. Each box covered with privateers will give you 1 additional EP point per turn.

Cheers!
