fleet reinforcements

Sun Jan 24, 2010 1:45 pm

i am having a slight(but incredibly annoying)problem with fleets.they keep receiving extra elements.unfortunatly those elements arnt full strength,so the result is that the fleet locks in place(always when the fleet is at sea).needless to say the fleet starves to death b4 the lock is broken.

is there any way to prevent ships out of harbour(or in the process of leaving harbour)getting locked in place becouse of the untimely arrival of these new elements?

scenario is a few acres of snow, version 1.06.
a fleet arrived in halifax,i ordered it to move.turn result 3 new elements received dy the fleet reulting in 3 units locking in place(at sea)

ordered champlain fleet to transport troops north.result 2 new elements received locking fleet in place(fortunatly still in harbour)

fleet arrived in boston and has been locked in place ever since(tho' i assume this is intended)but in previous game experiment i ordered it to move.result 2new elements received locking it in place(at sea)leading to starvation and destruction.

I have never seen anything of this  :bonk: Really weird!
Do you receive new elements on an understrength unit or new units on a stack??

For attaching files here, go to
C:\Program files\Wars in America\WIA\Saves
Open the apropiate folder there (in this case it would be called something like 1756 campaign)
If you have started several 1756 campaigns check the folder time stamp.
Inside you will see 4 or 5 files (the current turn you are playing) and up to 24 sub folders with names Backup1, 2, 3... (it depend how much turns into teh campaign you are)
If some of this strange thing you explain happened on the last turn Lodi will need all the current turn files, plus 1 or 2 backup folders.
The ones called backup1, and backup2 are the two most recent turns after the current.
If this happened some turns before you will need to attach older backup turns.
Select the backup folders you see fit and the current turns files and compress them with your favorite compression program (winrar, winzip...)
Attach that compressed file on a post of this thread using the "paper clip" icon button you have over the reply box and the upload file menu you will get.

Hope it helps! :)

Hi!
It seems they are attached OK!
For he next time, you can put both (or more) backup folders on the same .rar or .zip file instead of attaching two files.
But it's OK like this too
Let's see what Lodilefty finds there :sherlock:

I see them in your save [indicated as "Static Units", but when I restore the previous turn, the replacement ships arrive at full strength and sail nomally!

 1. Clearly what you have was bugged, both from the arrival of damaged units and the locking due to low strength or otherwise static units.
 2. There are also two strange 'xxx Fleet arrived in Fundy' messages, relating to these units that never go there!
 3. ..and, the 'French side' sees a single fleet unit under Holburne containing all the ships from both stacks in Sable Island

Please restore previous turn and see if it replicates, but if we can't recreate this we can't debug it! :(

I think that we may be seeing "cosmic rays' or an event at the Large Hadron Collider

i restored the previous turn and exactly the same thing happens.replacements arrive understrength and the units that receive them lock in place.Does this mean there's a big bang coming? ;)

as i said in earlier post, its happened with the fleet in boston while experimenting.as thats early in the game ill see if i can recreate it and send the files.

Did you completely erase the 'bad' installation before doing the new?

I'll check your Second file too... :)

Again, I cannot replicate your result

In this case, those units didn't even recieve replacements in my game

What settings are you using?

[easiest way: send me a PM with your General.opt file from WIA\Settings, or email it to support@ageod.com]
DO NOT POST THAT FILE HERE!!!! It contains your registered Serial number too!!!]
